Some tips on insurance for events in Wales from Powys County Council.
You will need Public Liability Insurance for your event and Employers insurance (NB: Volunteers are considered to be employees by the HSE – Health and Safety Executive). You may also choose to insure against bad weather.
For voluntary organisations, WCVA (Welsh Council for Voluntary Action) recommends Keegan-Pennykid as an insurance broker. Otherwise, there are many event insurance companies, and it is worth asking established event organisers in your area for recommendations.
Remember to read all the small print on any policy you are offered and ensure that your cover is appropriate to your event.
